HELPING THE DISABLED

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessing be upon His Messenger.

Being mentally and physically healthy is the greatest gift that we should be thankful for. At the same time, being it mentally or physically ill is a test from Allah to mankind. Therefore, one has to be patient, grateful, and thankful to Allah for whatever He gives. In Qur’an it’s mentioned*{Only the patient will be paid back their reward in full without measure...}* (Az-Zumar 39:10)

Every human being has given their rights in this life. No matter if he/ she are abled or disabled. As Muslims first we should refer to the perfect guidance to the mankind the glorious Qur’an and the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessing be upon him.

When we look into Qur’an, these some of the verses even though the direct terms are not being used its states the same.

*{O mankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other).}* (Al-Hujurat 49:3)

*{And cooperate with one another towards righteousness and piety and do not cooperate towards sinfulness and aggression.}* (Al-Ma'idah 5:2)
*{Whoever saved a life, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind.}* (Al-Ma'idah 5:2)

When we look into Hadheeth’s of the Prophet (PBUH)

"Whoever meets the needs of his brother, Allah will meet his needs."

"Show mercy to those on earth, and God will show mercy to you."

The Prophet has emphatically said: "None of you is a true believer until you wish for your brother what you wish for yourself."

"Charity is prescribed for every person every day the sun rises."

"if one removes a hardship of a Muslim in this life, Allah will relieve a hardship from him on the Day of Judgment."

From these few but meaningful verses of Qur’an and saying of our beloved Prophet (PBUH) we know how important it is for us to establish the rights of the Disabled and less fortune people.

Indeed as Muslims it is obligatory for us to provide care and protection to the disabled people.

We have no right to humiliate, discriminate or reject them from the society.

We have no right to isolate them from the community unless if such a treatment is required for them to make them recover. We have to serve them equally in the society but with extra care.

It is not only the duty of few people in the society or the family to look after them or provide guidance and protection to them. It is the responsibility of the whole community. It is a consensus among scholars that the whole community will be considered sinful if these people are neglected and abandoned or humiliated. Can u live with that?

May Allah bless u all.
Fi Amanillah
